Make a Sight Word Scavenger Hunt
As Chobie learns to read, we’ve been working on simple words
that are easy to sound out alongside basic sight words. To break up our readings of Cat in the Hat we did something else today.
To practice sight words, I made a quick outdoor word
scavenger hunt by writing the words on different surfaces in the yard.
Chobie was given a word sheet of words to look for. (Bee
helped me make it, as you can see.)
He circled the words as he found them. By finding the words
on the sheet and in the yard, he got to practice sounding out or recognizing
each word twice.
Anyone else have good sight word activities to share? I
would love to hear about them in the comments.
