A Re-ReStart in 2012...

Ok. So months ago I said I was going to try to do some more regular posts and so far we've seen exactly 0. Well, this time I do have a really good excuse. I've been very very busy growing a new addition to our feral baby ranch! I'm getting over the first trimester tiredness but not so much the nausea though :( .... I'm really inspired this time around to do a lot more crafting and handmaking of items for the new little one. (With Chobe I did do some handmaking to be fair). I'll just have to squeeze it in between my already plentiful daily activities and the move to our new dream home and all the napping, snacking, (and of course! regular exercise) that pregnancy demands (20 forested acres adjacent to public land, funky little cabin/house, off the grid, sweet garden space, mature fruit and nut trees *sigh*).
So anyway, to kick off the re-restart of this blog I'm going to do a review of the fabulous handmakings of late 2011/early 2012:
Left: We have the unfelted but soon to be washing machine felted gnome hunting hat for my sweetheart and baby-daddy.
Below: A Hat and scarf combo I knitted around Christmas time for my dear sister Sal. The pattern for the hat came from http://gourmetknits.blogspot.com/2011/02/pattern-quinny-hat.html. The scarf is my own recipe inspired by the hat. Simple garter stitch at the ends and knit purl webbing.
L: Matching (basically) mama and baby hats.
Above R: This is a vest that I made from a recycled wool sweater. I cut and machine stitched it then handstitched the edges. The image above is not finished. I did the orange stitching on the bottom, neck and middle edges, then crocheted some onto the middle edges to make room for button closures.
Other finished projects not pictured above: Upcycled curtains made out of old clothes in the goodwill pile that I have been working on since summer 2010. They're heavy and dark to do some serious shading during the long summer days that last until 10pm when babies seriously need to have been asleep...hours ago. This was a project that I had originally intended to do detailed instructions on as were many of the above projects in fact, but by now there are so many new and exciting things to blog about that I've just gotta move on to the current projects or I'll create a serious back log. Picture frames painted and prepared for displaying the cute family photos I've been taking throughout the house.
